MARDIN MIDYAT
This is the story of a break up and actually the beginning of myself. Every person has a turning point in their beginning. I started with that point and after a love story, I found myself on a Bingöl plane and than the magic of yellow Midyat. Thanks to my sister, that beautiful GAP tour that I joined by chance An unforgettable left Mardin and following Diyarbakır and Şanlıurfa.
Of course, I want to start with the city that I am most fascinated with Mardin . Firstly think of a yellow journey after a point if you are going to Mardin . Southeast Anatolia region because yellow color means dry sun and shopkeepers who always greet you with a smiling face.
Marvelous Midyat . As you approach Midyat, those magnificent stone houses with the color of the sun begin to appear from a distance . Midyat is a city of civilizations and tolerance where many cultures unite . Religiously Muslim, Christian and Ezid and originally Turkish Kurdish and Armenian people live here together. You should see the grape vineyards and wine houses. The magnificent Syriac wines made from Öküzgözü Boğazkere grapes, perhaps dating back to the earliest dates . It is one of the 2-3 cities that possibly brought Angelina Jolie to it’s feet.
As the pigeons wander around Midyat, you will come across the most noble, perhaps the whitest of the wonderful long-leg pigeon breed you have never seen in your life .
If you go to Mardin
Rebember me to my shy lover
If you are in Midyat, you realize that this song is not singing for nothing. The simplest is the art of filigree. That I have never seen anywhere in the world . Telkari is the art of processing silver threads as jewelery and cup mats. But what a beautiful art! The art of shaping those silver threads by embroidering them with fine workmanship that lasts days and sometimes months.
Secondly the churches undoubtedly that I have never seen as clean in any part of the world can be given as an example to this Mor Gabriel church. I went to many churches all my life, but I saw the cleanest churches in Midyat. Especially the dayrülzaferan monastery.
Thirdly when it comes to food, of course, you see the Southeast influence. Meat and legumes is the main ingredients in meals. No matter what budget you go to the restaurant. You will taste the most delicious dishes you have not tasted before. Moreover,Watermelon seeds! It’s not a joke. The seeds of giant watermelons are consumed as snacks here, you should try.
where can you stay in Midyat?
If you ask where can you stay, we did not have the opportunity to stay. Personally, as a person who takes the tent as a home. I recommend staying in places that reflect the spirit of the cities.
